Lately, something has come to my attention. I was a Christian. Did I know what it was or how to be one? Not really. Do I now know? Not really. God isn't expecting us to be as perfect as Him. He knows we have faults and understands them more than we do. As I thought about what it was to be a Christian, I realized that to be a Christian I needed to take time out of my oh so busy schedule to praise Him and try to think about Him in every move I make. I went to the local Christian book store last week and expected to come out with a bible and be a "Christian" and read it. Every once in a while. Sometime in that bookstore, God somehow changed my mission in there to make it what could be the start of the most important journey of all. I picked up a book by Robin Jones Gunn and Tricia Goyer. The book was titled "Praying For Your Future Husband: Preparing Your Heart For His". I had seen this book online so I decided to pick it up. I am so glad I did. This book along with, The Story: Teen Edition, and my pink (of course! :) ) ESV bible have changed my outlook on life and being one of God's Girls. The book talks about all things from praying for your future husbands' trustworthiness to how he handles sinning. It talks about being OK with the idea that you ARE going to sin and make A LOT of mistakes in life but, the Lord has unconditional love for us. Is it hard for you to imagine unconditional love? It sure is for me... Sure we say we love our boyfriend, siblings, or even parents to death but, we don't mean it NEAR to the extreme He does. That is unbelievable to me. No matter what we do, He loves us more than we will ever, ever, ever know. The book is able to display what your relationship should look like. It should look like 3 spirits. Yes. 3. Not 2. You, your man, and the Lord. The authors describe love as a triangle with God at the top and you and your boyfriend/husband as the bottom two points. But, think about it. As each bottom point gets closer to God, they also get closer together. To me, that is where the saying "A family who prays together, stays together" must come from. At least that is how I in vision it. I really recommend this book to each and every one of you. It is the perfect book for me and I'm sure for you too!
